The short version
- Your trips, fuel and charging logs, vehicles, reminders and settings are private to your account.
- We use GPS only while a trip is running, to measure distance and speed. We don't track you in the background, and trips aren't saved with coordinates.
- Receipts are stored privately. OR/CR images are read and never stored.
- Things you share with your Crew are visible to other signed-in Comutrack users. Shared posts never include your odometer, battery or fuel readings, plate number or receipts.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- You can export your trips and logs, and have your account and data deleted.
What we collect
Account
You sign in with Apple, Google, or an email and password, through Firebase Authentication. We receive your email address and, if you allow it, your name. You can also start as a guest; a guest account has no email until you link one. When a guest signs in with an Apple or Google account that already has Comutrack data, the guest data is not merged.
Profile
Your name, @handle, bio, profile photo, city, and which of your cars you show on your profile.
Driving data
Stored in your account in Cloud Firestore, readable only by you:
- Vehicles: make, model, year, nickname, powertrain, battery or tank size, odometer and latest battery or fuel readings, charger and station preferences, and an optional photo.
- Trips: start and end time, distance, driving time, the start and end place names you type, battery or fuel readings before and after, energy used, cost and a traffic breakdown.
- Fuel and charging logs: date, station or network, amount, price and an optional receipt photo.
- Reminders and settings: service reminders, region, currency, units and privacy switches.
Community
Posts, photos you attach to posts, comments, reactions, follows and challenge entries (your score and trip count for that challenge).
Location
Comutrack asks for location permission "While using the app". It reads your precise location only during an active trip, on your device, to measure distance and speed. Positions are not uploaded and no route line or coordinates are saved with your trip. If you deny permission, distance is estimated from the trip time instead.
Where we offer traffic estimates for a route, the start and end points are sent through our server to the Google Maps Routes API to get the expected drive time. We don't store them.
Photos and AI reading
Comutrack can read photos for you using Gemini models through Firebase AI Logic, a Google service. The photo is sent to Google to extract the values, which you check before saving. Google processes these requests under its Firebase and Gemini API terms.
- Receipts: read for the station, amount, unit price, total and date. The receipt photo is then kept in private storage in your account for your records. Only you can open it.
- Car photos: read to suggest the make, model and colour. A car photo you keep is stored with that vehicle.
- Odometer photos: read for the odometer value. The photo is not stored.
- OR/CR (registration) documents: read to fill in vehicle details. OR/CR images are never stored, by us or in your account. Only the fields you confirm are saved, privately.
Photos are stored in Cloud Storage for Firebase. Profile photos, car photos and post photos can be viewed by other signed-in users when they appear on your profile or posts. Receipts can only be viewed by you.
What others can see
Other signed-in Comutrack users can see:
- Your public profile: name, @handle, bio, photo, city, cars you choose to show, and follower and following counts.
- Who you follow.
- Posts you share, with your comments and reactions. Each post keeps a copy of your name, handle and photo from when you posted it.
- Your entries in public challenges, or in challenges you were invited to.
Shared posts and car cards never include:
- your odometer, or the latest battery %, fuel level or range readings of your car;
- your plate number;
- receipts.
Car cards show this month's distance only. With Hide start & end points on, shared trips leave out where you started and ended. Links to posts and profiles (comutrack.com/p/… and comutrack.com/@…) can be opened on the web by anyone who has the link. They show the same public information.
Service providers
We use these services to run Comutrack. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Hosting and AI Logic with Gemini).
- Google Maps Platform (Routes API), for traffic estimates.
- Apple and Google sign-in, if you choose them.
Your data may be processed on servers outside the Philippines. We don't sell personal data or share it with advertisers. We'll disclose data only if the law requires it.
This website
comutrack.com doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. If you join the waitlist we store your email address, only to tell you when Comutrack is available. To show shared posts, profiles and challenges, the site opens an anonymous Firebase session in your browser. Signing in on the web for car cards uses the same Firebase Authentication as the app.
Export and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. In the app, Profile → Settings → Export trip & fuel data gives you a CSV of your trips and fuel and charging logs. For a full copy of everything we hold about you, email support@comutrack.com.
You can delete a post at any time; its photos are deleted with it. To delete your account, follow the steps on the support page. Deleting your account removes your profile, vehicles, trips, logs, reminders, settings, posts, comments, reactions, follows, challenge entries and stored photos and receipts, and your sign-in. We complete deletion within 30 days. Backups expire on their normal schedule.
Waitlist emails are deleted once we've sent the launch email, or sooner if you ask.
Your rights
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and similar laws where you live, you can ask to access, correct, port or delete your personal data, object to its processing, and complain to the National Privacy Commission. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Comutrack is for drivers. It isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Questions, requests or complaints: support@comutrack.com.
